Sequin Cap

I've been extremely busy these few weeks and am glad for the opportunity to shop around last and this Sat for a short while. I tried on a white sequin jacket from Zara's Studio range but unfortunately the size M jacket was too big for me (surprise, surprise). The jacket is so beautiful and it has rekindled my love for all things sequined.

Happily, I found this sequin cap from The Hereen instead! It's ultra-bling and with a pair of sunglasses, I can pretend I'm a celebrity moving around incognito.

This cap is also available in silver and gold.

My Outfit Today

I wore this to a cocktail cum Thomas Wee preview last week. A black dress with a ruffled front, a pink shawl from Pedder Red to add color to an otherwise safe dress, a limited edition pink Purple Anemone clutch and my favourite Purple Anemone chunky bracelet.

I'm not usually a shawl person but couldn't resist buying this shawl a few months ago as the color was just so alluring. I have debated internally and with friends if I should be wearing one to a cocktail (is it a faux pas or only something only older women wear?). In the end, I just wore what I wanted!

My Outfit Today

I wore this black crystal skull dress from Shanghai yesterday. It's super comfy! Wore it with a pair of with black and grey wedges from Pedder Red.

Went for the SGX Bull Charge run yesterday and a primary school class gathering after that. It was our 2nd gathering in 20 years! It was hilarious that most of the girls wore black (we think that that's because we want to look slim for a class reunion after 2 decades! haha). Our conclusion was also that guys tend to age slower than girls - guys seem to look younger!

My New Hairstyle

It has been a long 3 weeks for me and finally the mad rush is over (sort of lah)! Hurray! Took time out to relax and got a new haircut. My hairdresser suggested a short hairstyle with a dark blue base and electric-blue highlights. He's the only guy I have never been able to say NO to and ta-da this is the result:

My Outfit Today

For my cousin's wedding in July, I decided to try something different. Instead of wearing the obvious evening-glam dresses, I wore this Marc by Marc Jacobs dress which is more day-smart-casual than evening wear. I glam-ed it up with a gold chunky bracelet and other accessories instead. Love the contrast between the 2 fabrics and the row of big navy blue buttons down the front:Paired the dress with a chunky bracelet, polka dot sling (to contrast with the stripes on the dress) and pink patent Miu Miu slingbacks. These appear to be my favourite combination of shoes and bag at the moment!

I wore this to a dance performance last Thursday: Ruffle-sleeves white top and mustard yellow belt from People of Asia. Nestled among the ruffles are 2 fabric roses! Brown pants from Blum. Lime green Purple Anemone clutch with pink flower pin.

My Outfit Today

The dress I wore yesterday belongs to my Mother. It's a batik-print dress which my Father bought for her in the 1970s or 1980s from Indonesia (batik is a traditional art form of Indonesia). The dress is super comfy and great for the local warm/ sunny weather. According to my parents, the dress came with a matching clutch although I have not seen it yet. It would be so cool to carry a clutch in a matching fabric!

According to Mum, the dress was meant to be worn in a loose style, with a rubbered waist and meant to be puffed up near waist/ hips. I have updated the look with a wide brown elastic belt instead and paired the dress with my patent Pink Miu Miu and Purple Anemone polka-dotted sling (yes, again but in a different look entirely. I'm glad these 2 pink items are so versatile!).

My Mum was so slim then that this is the only dress that I can wear from her old wardrobe. The others are just too small! I'm glad to be able to wear this one, it feels like I'm getting even closer to her. :)

My Outfit Today

Celebrated my birthday with a little polka-dotted fun today!

Wearing my black Moschino Jeans dress with silver-tone zippers all over (including 2 zippered side pockets which I like), pink patent leather Miu Miu slingbacks and carrying my Purple Anemone polka-dot sling with a black ribbon pin. I haven't done the matching shoes and bag combination for years...so decided that I will try it again today. It's so not fashionable to do so (by some quarters) that it's appealing to me.

Today, I'm trying out the tie-dyed and layered skirt (cue Miu Miu) look. My black dress is from Hereen. I've layered it with a tie-dyed mini skirt (from This Fashion, yeah, don't shoot me) and a brown elastic belt (have been wearing this belt like forever). Paired this outfit with denim Gucci slides.

I like the green and black mini layered skirt from This Fashion so much (~ US$15) that I bought another one that was dyed brown and pink. I fell in love with the colors of this green/black skirt and would not dream of wearing it as a skirt since it is too short so I have worn it here as a top instead. I love too the tiered skirt as it gives a tiered look near the hips ala petticoats.

(For those not from Singapore, This Fashion is a chain that sells economical clothes where if you spend time to look, there are good things to be found. Almost like thrift-shopping.)

My Outfit Today

Today I'm wearing an old denim shirt as an asymmetrical skirt, paired with a black top with purple lace from Bangkok and my pink Miu Miu patent leather slingbacks. I like how the skirt is different all around, both left and right and both front and back. Kept the accesssories to a minimum today, just with a chunky bling ring to avoid overcrowding.

After meeting our designer yesterday, we went around looking at furniture to understand more on what the other wants for our new place. There are so many different types of stylish furniture around, that we are having a hard time deciding. Happy problems, I guess.

Going out again to source for furniture after our gym session today. Here's what I will be wearing: I found the multi-color silk bubble skirt on a 50% discount rack in IP! Super great buy! Toned down the skirt with a dark grey knitted top with floral-capped sleeves. The brown elastic belt was bought at People's Park Complex. I wanted to wear this outfit with ankle socks but decided against it and settled for a simple pair of black sandals from VNC.

The grey knitted top came with a grey knitted flower. I removed that and wore the top with 3 necklaces instead for a more interesting look. The red and the blue necklace are vintage finds; you can't see them in the photo but they are actually small little hearts. The locket necklace is handmade by me at Purple Anemone. I think these necklaces go very nicely with the skirt:

My Outfit Today

For work today, I wore my asymmetrial jacket (from a small boutique in International Plaza). It has different collars (one black and one blue striped), zippered pockets in front (my fave). I paired it with my Agnes B. green patent belt (I love colors!), G-star jeans, Prada watch and shoes from yet another small shop in International Plaza. I experimented with wearing the green waist belt at the hips, with the buckle at the side and unbuckled in another statement of asymmetry. Liked the look and glad that the unbuckled belt could amazingly stay in place the whole day!

Happy Lunar New Year to everyone! It's a tee-shirt and jeans day for me today. I love my pink Local Celebrity tee, especially with the Shopasaurus Rex growling "Out of my way - you lightweights!" Call me childish if you like, but that's how I feel sometimes. :p

In my previous entry, I blogged about a colleauge who advised that red shoes are great for good luck in this Rat year. Being kiasu and not one to let any opportunity for good luck pass, I had to follow her advice right? The photo below shows my take on red shoes, complete with red and white striped socks (bought last night for just $10 for 3 pairs at the Chinatown New Year Bazaar).

Pink leather in action

Hi Anonymous (why don't you give me a name? :D ), here's what I may wear the A/X pink leather jacket with! My asymmetrical barkcloth skirt, a well-worn black tank top (for contrasts), gold belt (worn loose on the hips) and beige boots.

I would also like to wear it with dark denim as you have said. Although I think an all-white assemble will go terrific with it, I'm afraid the color may run. So, white bags are out too!

My outfit today to Zhenhui and Shufang's wedding lunch. GG<5 blue long top, leather belt, black layered skirt, Topshop black tights, Tod's patent leather heels, Purple Anemone clutch (I can fit an umbrella in there - most useful for a rainy day like today) and Purple Anemone SOOT charm bracelet!

When I tried the blue top with the black layered skirt at the boutique, my girlfriend thought it fitted better with black pants instead. But I went ahead with the skirt anyway, and totally not regreting it one bit; I like it better with the layered skirt than with conventional pants!

Wearing my 2 new gold and turquoise belts together with olive green ribbed pedal-pushers, black top with puffy sleeves (which a laundry shop wanted to charge me for dry-cleaning as a dress when it is too short for me as a dress!) and a pair of polka-dotted high-heeled sandals. Glam it up with my favourite SOOT bracelet.

My outfit today: Green and black retro print dress from Mango. Black tights from Topshop and burgundy patent leather Mary Janes from Tod's. Paired with my Green Green earrings.

Black Vest

Just couldn't resist getting the same vest in a different color. :D I paired the black vest with a grey tee and a SOOT necklace. Strictly this was my outfit 2 days ago.

Vest: Love the collar

I just love this beige vest, a recent purchase from a shop at The Hereen. The collar, instead of being sewn outwards, is inverted instead so that the pointy corners are faced inwards, making an interesting statement. I have matched it with my grey Blythe tee and beigey brown capris. A chunky SOOT bracelet completes the look.
